These are the diseases which are focussed upon. (I've yet to see a media headline screaming 'Chicken dies of Marek's! - border controls implemented!) I believe it is because bats are physiologically so much like humans. I think a large amount of the disease tally 'fear phenomena' is primarily because of the disproportionate focus paid to bats in general, as opposed to humans and other species. I wouldn't mind betting that we beat them hands down as 'disease cesspools'- (ask any parent with children in kindy or year one what their sick leave tally looks like). However, we are the master race - so I guess that doesn't count. Basically speaking - the fact that we are so obsessed with stopping any disease (especially those ultimately created by our own unhealthy environmental living conditions and practices) mean that we remain ludicrously over populated as a species, breeding in weaknesses and poor genetics, until nature finally finds a way to get the better of us.
