Upside down it causes her pain
The wire hurt her at the zoo.
What horrors the poor bat went through!

In a hammock she likes to rest

For the Little River Eight
Life had not been so great
No enrichment, water, or food.
Stuck in a tiny cage life was no good.
Stinky guano and roaches everywhere.
Poor little bats were so scared.
Didn't know they were being saved.
From this terrible abusive cave.
One in a panic tried to flee.
Got covered in roaches that poor batty!
He was cleaned off and together
All the bats' lives would turn out for the better.
Checked to make sure they were okay.
They wanted to fly right away.
Saw their new cave; what a sight!
Happy bats wanted to take a flight.
They were not that strong.
But it didn't take too long.
Soon they were flying and having a blast
Zipping and zooming very fast.
Now they have food and water galore.
Tasty treats, toys, and so much more.
Life at Bat World for them is really great.
For the happy Little River Eight.
Little E
One day Little E was found
Hanging two feet off the ground.
He was so dehydrated and so thin.
Bat World took him back again.
Soon as he got back he opened his eyes
With a smile the little bat realized.
He knew exactly where he was at.
Little E doesn't know how to be a bat.
He was so happy to be back.
Had himself a tasty snack.
Up to his roost mates did he cuddle.
All in a nice warm batty huddle.
They took excellent care of him.
But outside the world would be grim.
So Little E will always get to stay.
At Bat World where he can play.

There's a little cat who took pity.
On a bat named Mr. Kitty.
Gave him a little lift.

Amongst the rocks he likes to hide.
Making sure his fellow bats are fine.
He takes the time out to dine.
He is such a sweet little bat.

The poor mother of Tinkerbelle
Had went through tremendous hell.
But her sweet pup was spared.
Cause someone showed they cared.
The bat hut is where she likes to abide.
It's her cave where she can hide.
She helps ease the new arriving bats
To get used to where they are at.
With a cuddle and them under her wing.
She helps their transitioning.
Her behavior might seem a bit odd.
But she's a precious gift from God.
She sometimes will fly out
Zipping zooming all about.
Eating, drinking, and chatting.
Giving a toy a good batting.
Back to her hut for the night
After she has taken flight.
Waiting for the next new bat to appear.
So she can say, "Don't worry. I'm here."

On a day or on a night.
Someone realized keeping bats as pets isn't right
So this person righted their mistake
To Bat World Sanctuary the bats did this person take.
When Mini Me the bat was small.
Her mother wouldn't feed her at all.
But Cleobatra adopted and loved her.
Cleo let the pup nuzzle her fur.
The two are two batty pals

They don't care if she is small.
They love her one and all.
With her fellow bats she can be.
Flying around happy and free.
Then she can roost with Cleo.

Bianca the bat had her pup one day.
Bat World tried to help but she ran away.
Slamming the feet of her poor little girl.

Her poor feet had been injured.
They were treated and secured.

While we were asleep at night
The warrior bat took flight.
While we were all at rest

Although it might have been late

Every year she would have a pup

Then one day she was found.

She had struggled for so long.
But this warrior still carried on.

The Farmer and the Bat
One day in the morn
A farmer looked on his corn.
And realized something wasn't right.
His crop was decreasing
And that wasn't pleasing.
It wasn't a lovely sight.
He started to investigate
And said "It's too late!"
"There are insects destroying my crop!"
"How will I feed my family? This isn't great!"
"These pesky insects need to be stopped!"
While he was sound asleep that night
Came forth a bat that took flight
It swooped down in and had the insects for a snack
Then to its cave it flew back.
The next morning fearing the damage would be great
He prepared his family for the terrible fate.
With tears in their eyes they began to mourn.
For the horrible destruction of their corn.
But oh what joy and oh what relief!
"You've got to see this! It's beyond belief!"
"The crop! It's saved! But why is it all right?"
The farmer decided to watch and see that night.
So late at night while the others were asleep.
The farmer went out to take a peep.
To see who or what had done this kind deed.
"Whoever it is shall be rewarded indeed!"
He waited and waited and then heard a sound
Of flapping wings high above the ground.
Then down swooped a little bat
Ate all the insects and that was that.
The farmer in awe saw it fly out of sight.
Never forgetting what he saw that night.
"My dear precious bat my heart you have won!"
"I shall never forget the good thing you have done!"
One day the farmer heard a terrible sound.
There he saw laying on the ground.
A little bat with an injured wing.
Right away he recognized the poor little thing.
"It was you! It was you who ate the insects at night!"
"It was you! It was you who made everything all right!"
"You helped me and my family, so I will help you."
"Don't worry little bat, I know what to do!"
He took the bat to Bat World Sanctuary to stay.
"I know it's going to be okay!"
With a tear in his eye and a tip of his hat
He said goodbye to his friend the bat.
The time they had apart seemed way too long.
The farmer built a bat house on his lawn.
Days turned to weeks and months to years
"Will I ever see it again?" asked the farmer with tears.
That night as every night he watched the sky.
Hoping that his little friend would fly by.
Every night on the steps he sat.
Watching and waiting for his friend the bat.
Then one night while he was still up.
He went to the bat house and he found a pup!
His eyes filled with tears and a smile on his face
"My friend had a baby in this place!"
So now the farmer every night
Watches his friends the bats take flight
Eating insects unil there are zero.
"See you again tomorrow night, my little Heroes."
The Pet Bat
You took me to my cage that day.
I was so very scared.
I wanted to fly far away.

I can't stretch but why bother?
