URGENT, FAST RESPONSE REQUIRED - PROTECT CAIRNS CBD FLYING FOX CAMP - PLEASE SIGN E-PETITION:
There is an urgent e-petition on the Queensland parliament website calling on the government to "reacquire the land Lot 203, SP210231 at 163 Abbott Street, Cairns, being an undeveloped portion of the former Cairns Central School site, and replant it as a park and secure, expanded roost area for flying foxes."
A proposed development on this land would remove four currently occupied spectacled flying fox roost trees and build two thirteen storey towers blocks (hotel and residential) that would overshadow the rest of the camp at the Cairns library.
This petition is only open until 4th February so that Rob Pyne, Member for Cairns, can present it when parliament resumes for 2017. So please share this widely as we need as many signatures as possible from Queensland residents and voters. TO SIGN THE PETITION GO TO:
