Microbats | Calakmul, there’s a site known as the “Bats Volcano”

Did you know...? Bats play a key role in the structure and balance of ecosystems. They not only consume thousands of insects working as natural pest control; but are also important for the pollination of flowers and distribution of seeds, from which many plants are entirely dependent.

In Calakmul, there’s a site known as the “Bats Volcano”, a deep cave from which every afternoon, nearly three million chiropterans rise up from the darkness of their caves in a three-hour-long swirl to begin their journey through the jungle in search of food.

It's an amazing spectacle to watch!!
