Found: In a bucket inside a garage in Witta, Queensland.
Transported to: To the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital by a kind member of the public.
Veterinary Assessment: Dr Danny was on duty to assess Sara when she arrived. Dr Danny found Sara to be bright and alert and after a thorough examination he found no serious injuries.
Treatment: Dr Danny transferred Sara to the Intensive Care Unit for close observation.
Outcome: After a few hours, Dr Danny was happy that Sara was in good condition and he cleared her for release. Sara was released back into her home range away from any risks.
AZWH Fact: Only reaching 12 grams in size, the little broad-nosed bat is certainly charming! All types of bats require very specialised handling so please be sure to call an expert if you find one that needs help.
