GREY-HEADED FLYING FOXES IN PERIL

DEBORAH WHITE, MICHAEL HUGILL, CATEGORY: AT THE MUSEUM, DATE: 22 MAY 2013
The poor Grey-headed Flying Fox has been much maligned...

They may appear abundant and are even considered pests by some standards. But, in reality, these native Australians are in danger of extinction. As their homes are fast becoming wastelands, large colonies of Grey-headed Flying Foxes are forced to live in urban environments just to survive.

Grey-headed Flying Fox expert, Anja Divljan, talks about the plight of these bats and the dangers they face when living alongside humans. Shootings, mass relocations, entanglements, electrocutions and climate change are taking a serious toll on bat populations, particularly the babies.

But, as Anja explains in this film, there is something we can do to give a bat a break.
