Papers in this section might include the legal and ethical treatment of wildlife, the protection of animal rights, compliance with legislation, and post-release survival. This can be extended to include consideration of the health of the local environment and its suitability to support released wildlife.
Treatments and care - updating and extending knowledge of conditions and their treatment. May include information about medications, techniques, nutrition, housing and transport of animals in care.
Engagement & Admin - how the sector it interacts with groups such as vets, government agencies, other groups and the public. This could include care for wildlife volunteers, WHS/OHS issues, zoonoses, and ways to improve the effectiveness of shelters/wildlife organisations.
DR KARL KRUSZELNICKI
Known around Australia as "Doctor Karl", Dr Kruszelnicki has a BSc majoring in physics, a Masters in Biomedical Engineering, a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery. In 2016, he received an honorary doctorate from the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Awards include Member of the Order of Australia, Australian Father of the year, and he was classified as a National Living Treasure by the National Trust of Australia in 2012.
He has authored 40 books, and appeared on television series including Quantum and Sleek Geeks and regular radio appearances in Australia and overseas including ABC, Triple J and BBC Radio 5.
He has over 300,000 followers globally on Twitter.

TIM LOW
Tim Low is an Australian biologist and author of articles and books on nature and conservation. His seventh book, Where Song Began: Australia's Birds and How They Changed the World, became the first nature book ever to win the Australian Book Industry Awards prize for best General Non Fiction, in 2015. An earlier book, Feral Future, inspired the formation of the Invasive Species Council. His earlier books helped popularise Australian bush tucker. Four of his books have won national prizes.
For twenty years Low wrote a column in Nature Australia, Australia's leading nature magazine. He contributes to Wildlife Australia, Australian Geographic, Australian Birdlife and other magazines. He works as an environmental consultant, writer and photographer.

Carol has PhDs in Biochemistry and Environmental Philosophy. She works as a casual academic in the School of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management, University of Queensland. Carol has worked as a science writer & editor of Wildlife Australia, member of the Australian Invasive Species Council, wildlife consultant and as a policy adviser for environmental NGOs.
In 2000 Carol, with the Qld Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) made environmental law history when she successfully initiated proceedings against a number of Qld orchardists who were illegally using electrical grids to kill thousands of threatened Spectacled Flying-foxes.
