Rehab | Heat stress event | Megabats babies Spectacled Cairns Flying-foxes Fruit bats
Baby bats transferred from Cairns to Brisbane by air.
Visiting the Vets for check up before being passed on to carers.
Carers, Far North Queensland, were overwhelmed with heat effected Megabats.
Spectacled Flying-foxes, named for the tan coloured rings of fur around their eyes, are endemic to Far North Queensland. Once very common, the species is now listed as endangered, due to direct and indirect human persecution (netting, electrocution, barbed-wire), land clearing and now, climate change.
