“Hey, mum, look at me! I’m upside down!” Did you know that, unlike birds, bats cannot launch their bodies into the air from the ground, because their wings don’t produce enough lift to take off? By hanging upside down, just like this gorgeous spectacled flying fox at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, they are in the perfect position to spread their wings and fly away quickly.

How sweet is this pup! Yes baby flying-foxes are called pups! ❤️ After receiving care at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital for pneumonia, Sparkles the black flying fox has improved and is well and truly on her way to being a fully grown adult, ready for life in the wild. 🦇
Finally!!! The Irwins show the sky puppies some love!!!
