Effects of an infographic on public views and knowledge of bat species in the UK
Participant Information Sheet
Project Aims
You are being invited to participate in this study as part of a final year research project at The University of Reading. The aim of this research project is to understand the effectiveness of infographic to promote bat conservation in the UK. You will be asked to answer a questionnaire that will explore the general public's knowledge and attitude towards bats. You will be asked to view an informative poster and should proceed to complete the survey, afterwards. This is to evaluate the performance of the infographic, participants' perceptions and knowledge can be measured before and after viewing it. Completion of the questionnaire is voluntary and completely anonymous.
Academic Purpose of the Project
There seems to be relatively little research into the effectiveness of interventions for advocating animal conservation. This project will utilise infographics to communicate basic knowledge to the general public and evaluate if it motivates individuals to participate in bat conservation from their homes via their own gardens, as well as to raise bat awareness in the UK. The results of this study will establish whether alternative methods of promotion are required to improve conservation.
