Flying foxes are being blamed for a power outage at Batemans Bay on the New South Wales far south coast.
Essential Energy says more than 2,000 homes around the town were without electricity for three hours on Sunday night.
The company's Regional General Manager, Phil Green, says the animals cut the power when they flew into electricity lines.
He says the organisation is looking at ways to prevent the problem from happening again.
“All the power is now restored,” Mr Green said.
“We're actually looking at the line to see what else we can do in that area to stop this from happening again.
“We've had some underground works up at Sunshine Bay recently where we have underground a lot of work and we'll look into that sort of thing in that area as well.”
